The village is bounded by Ting Li Village on the east, Kou Nei Village on the south(with Ssu Ku Chen as the borderline), Taiwan Straits on the west(adjacent to today's Chang Hua Coastal Industrial Park ) and Hsien Hsi Village on the north across the Central Road . In old days, Yu Pu was called Niu Pu and used to be the place where the villagers grazed their cattles(this is the reason why the place is called Niu Pu).In ancient times, it was divided into 3 parts: Lei Pu, Chung Pu and Kou Pu. Situated where today's town government is located , Nei Pu was the place where the cattle market was established. The area of today's Hsien Hsi Secondary School was called Chung Pu in old days; and the area west of Chung Pu to the sea was called Kou Pu. Later, Niu was replaced by Yu as a result of homophony, therefore, name of the place was changed from Niu Pu to Yu Pu. The area of Nei Pu of the village is the administrative, cultural and educational center of Hsien Hsi Town, where the town government, household registration office, police station, health station, library, elderly' association, agricultural council, fire department, national secondary and primary schools are located.
Most villagers of the village share the surname of Huang.lands of the village have been converted mostly into paddy fields and the areas along the sea into fish culturing ponds. Because new lands near the sea have been transformed into Chang Hua Coastal Industrial Park , administrative region is extended to the industry park.
