Ting Chuang Village Community introduction
One. History:
Located at the Fongtoushuiwei of northwestern Chang Hua County , the village is approximately 1 kilometer away from Hsien Hsi on the northeast. With flat topography, the village belonged to part of Ta Tu River alluvial plain and has an area of about 2.68 square kilometers. The village is bounded by Te Hsin Village on the east, Hsien Hsi Village on the south, Chang Hua Coastal Industrial Park on the west and Ke Liao and Tseng's Village of Shen Kang on the north. In terms of transportation, Taiwan 17 th Line travels across the eastern part and Western Coastal Expressway extends across the western part of the village, enabling very rapid and convenient transportation. Annual precipitation averages approximately 1000 cm . It is hot in summer. The northeast monsoon, blowing powerfully directly from the sea, prevails in the winter .In the early days, sandy areas of the village were covered with little vegetation, leading to frequent sand storm. To prevent the crops from being attached by winds, the villagers planted silver –grasses on the balks, therefore forming distinctive natural environments and habitats for birds and animals. Also, as the village is located close to Ta Tu River mouth, it is drained by many small branches of Ta Tu River drainage area, where there are a lot of reeds growing, also providing a habitat for birds and animals.
About the reign of Emperor Chien Lung of the Great Ching Dynasty, Wen Yu Lin, the ancestor who came to Taiwan, returned to his hometown to recruit five other members of the Lins' family and cooperated in farming the waste lands in the village and were followed by the Changs', Chens' and the Huangs'. Since the village was located above the Ching(Chin) Kou Cuo, it was called Ting Ching Kou or Ting Chien Kou in the old days, as opposed to Hsia Ching Kou or Hsia Chien Kou of Hsien Hsi . And, whether Ching Kou or Chien Kou, they got the names because of being located where they can see the sea mouth.
The village contains 346 households and 1584 people, 844 males and 740 females. In the early days, the villagers lived on agriculture, fishing, duck feeding, and egg transportation, selling, processing and hatching. With the development of industry, medium and small-sized have mushroomed, leading to economic prosperity of the village. In the recent years, in response to impacts on industries brought by Taiwan 's entry into the WTO, residents of the community turned to develop delicate and recreation agriculture, establish horse-ridding grounds, improve duck eggs through R&D and culture shrimps, winning good appraisal of the consumers.

Four. Natural and humanistic environments:
In the village are 8 small- sized temples, which are good places for the villagers to drink tea and chat during intervals of farming work. According to old people in the village, the temples originated from Cheng Kung Cheng's leading his troops to attack Taiwan . Among Cheng Kung Cheng's generals, one was called Chung Chuan Cheng(also known as Chuang Hsiung) who led a troop in an attempt to land at today's Hsien Hsi coastline. However , he failed because of being unfamiliar with the topography as well as winds and waves, leaving the whole troop completely annihilated. Following failure of the landing, all the officers and soldiers were drown under the sea, with the bodies flowing to the coastline and being buried together by local villagers here.
In the early days, the villagers led a hard life. It is said that anyone who came to burn incense with sufferings may get his/her wishes realized. Hence, one person tells ten, ten tell a hundred, and more and more people were attracted to burn incense here. And, whenever hearing the sounds of thousands upon thousands of horses and soldiers, the villagers would rush about telling others the news. Also according to old people in the village, in the old days, the fishermen were prone to get lost when catching fish on the sea during the night, but as long as they read aloud the holly title of Great General, a fire appears before them, guiding them to sail back home safely. To show thanks to the blessing of the Great General, fishermen in villages along the coast repeatedly expanded the temples. Another temple --Hu An Palace, also 100 years old, is an important belief center for residents of the community and has been restored for 3 times in hundred years.
