Mostly descendants of immigrants from Chuan Chou, villagers of Hsien Hsi preserved many traditional folk arts. Althou there are only 16 thousand villagers or so, more than 3000 old villagers were members of folk arts organizations. Here at Hsien Hsi Town, old villagers organized folk arts teams of Chia Goh , the Husband Carrying the wife on his Back, Peach Blossom Takes the Ferry , Song of Plough-pulling, have won championship in Old People Arts Contest and have been invited to perform in arts events for many times In usual days, the old people get together to practice their arts skills, drink tea and chat, which is the best manifestation of “Happiness in late years'.

The main agricultural produces of Hsien Hsi Town are rice and garlics. Due to its geographic location of wind head and water end , coupled with the influences of salt contents in the sea wind, the harvest of agricultural produces is not so good. Therefore, the villages still have to engage themselves in fishing, stock feeding or go to work in factories, enabling them to be honest and industrious. Duck feeding is the industry that makes Hsien Hsi famous across the Province and used to sweep the Island in 1970s.Although the situation of duck feeding is worse than before, preserved eggs and salty eggs made from duck eggs still make up a large portion of output of same products in Taiwan.Hence, Hsien Hsi is widely known as the “hometown of preserved egges”. Eggs products from Hsien Hsi are very popular among the consumers.

Hsiu An drum workshop

Hsiu An drum workshop, situated inside Kou Lei Village , has been already passed down to the third generation of the Huangs' ---Huang Lu and Cheng Feng Huang brothers. Drum making is a traditional folk craft that requires painstaking manufacturing process. From hair selection, hair cutting, hair pulling, sunning the skin and sealing the skin, it relies on experience and skills to make a good drum. Hsien Hsi of Chang Hua Coastal Industrial Park is the area of basis metal industry and petrochemical raw materials. So far, 50 enterprises have set up factories there, which will facilitate the development of surrounding industries. In planning the industrial park, consideration has been given to combination of industry, sightseeing and ecology( for instance, an ocean park is included in the planning of Hsien Hsi ) with a view to enable the visitors to enjoy water-related recreation and entertainment.
